Still a bit steep.

Other than being able to womble around on planet's surfaces - any word on gameplay additions?

I believe there's loads of planetary action - bases to attack/defend, Skimmers to fight against, stuff to investigation, crashed ships to loot, ability to fly around the canyons, dogfights - tons really.

I've shelled out cos I'm really looking forward to it - some people just want to have shit loads of cash, I just want to do different things with it so I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah it's a bit steep but I've balanced that against practically getting a whole new game - that's part of one I already like so from my point of view its a win win really.

Bought it while it was £10 off.

Am hoping they sort out the core game as a priority atm though - the FSD exit and BB delays are annoying the hell out of me as I only get limited time to play and don't like wasting it looking at what is effectively a loading screen....

Just started playing this.

Went out in the starter ship and into an unidentified site. Shot at some wanted dude.
Almost got wrecked, had some federation ships turn up.

They shot him, i got the bounty. 300k credits in all.

Not bad for the first 20 mins.

Sounds like you were very lucky there tbh - a sidewinder is pretty much next to useless in combat. Looks like the game wanted to give you a leg up - I've been playing since beta and the highest I've ever been awarded is something like 200K (and that was rare).

Still - welcome to ED! - post up your commander name if you want to hook up

Got myself am Imperial Clipper at last. Needs some more money putting into it as it feels sluggish after my A rated Vulture, but it's nice to have a decent cargo hold again. Will see how it goes....

Nice.

I'm just fart arsing around in my vulture at the moment. Was toying with getting in on that Pirate goal but its a hell of a journey to get there (over 500 clicks for me).

I joined a power so I could fight with LF and his crew but tbh I don't think it's for me - just can't see the benefit yet. Maybe I'll change my view on it in time for the moment I've left it and will stay solo.

Thinking about just heading on out into the big black and seeing where I end up. At the moment I don't have a "home" planet/area so the universe is my oyster.

Well this is just proper fucking odd.

I'm sure I bought beta access (which should have been 39.99) - I pre ordered Horizons back in October and was also given a £10 loyalty discount so I actually paid 29.99 (which is the current price of plain ole Horizons, beta is a tad more).

I've just been reading online that in order to access Horizons (if you have access) you need to basically just download the 1.5 Ships 64 release.... and i've got that.... so is this right? cos I've also seen people say it was a seperate entry in the launcher app so I've no idea if I have it or not now

In the launcher I can see:-
Elite Dangerous [32-bit]
Elite Dangerous Horizons Beta [2.0]
Elite Dangerous Ships Beta [1.5] - 64 bit
Single Player Combat Training

I bought the Horizons Beta for 49.99 - £10 loyalty, so paid 39.99

Ok now its getting weird.

Acording to my list of elite games I do not have Horizons (beta or anything).

I do have ships 1.5 64 bit - downloaded that last night.

And guess what - it reports that my version is Beta 2.... and I have planetary landings! - WOOT!.

Cept fucked if I can find the vehicle bays to buy anywhere! - or the PAS to buy (though that comes installed if you buy a new ship so have done that).

If I can find the vehicle bay somewhere then I should be able to bung a sarab in it and go racing... tried all the reported places to buy one but there is nothing showing in the outfitting screens for any of the cargo bays I choose.

I'm able to do part of the landings as I get the new stuff in the galaxy map, can select bases on the planets and I get the new approach landing hud stuff when I try and land on a planet. Only problem was by the time I'd got to this point I was trying to land on the dark side of a planet and couldn't see what I was doing, and it was time to call it a night.

Anyone been able to buy the vehicle bays and go out and about? - if so, where did you get them?

I'm really getting pissed off with the fines system in Elite. I picked up a mission from a moon base last night to rescue one of their downed pilots close to the base. I flew off and found the crash site, landed and deployed my buggy. The crash site is an exclusion zone and the escape pod is right in the middle of it. I drive in get warned I'm trespassing, flying drones open fire on me. so I quickly scoop up the escape pod and full throttle away from the zone. I make it to my ship and head back to base.

Only thing is the base is now red to me. I'm wanted for rescuing the very pilot they asked me to. I could understand it if it was a different group asking for the pilot and I went in and kidnapped him, but the mission giver and the drones patrolling the crash site were all the same faction.

I'm hoping its a bug but I've checked both the official forum and reddit, this problem crops up quite a lot in both places and no one seems to know if its intended or not.

Aye - it has had its moments... I especially love the dogfight bullshit where you get fined (or instantly set upon) because a stupid twatting npc local fuzz player decides to put themselves in your line of fire and you get accused of shooting them. If you are using a ballistic type weapon like the multicannons, releasing the trigger doesn't make your "shot" instantly vanish so there have been moments where I've seen the other ship flying in from stage left, released the fire button but they've still taken a hit because they flew into the path of the rounds that I'd already released.

I had that issue. It seems it can only go into a certain internal slot rather than anyone. I'm sure it has to be a slot with 4 capacity.
