New Cryengine 3 trailer

Not sure if this is already up but looks the same as Cryengine 2 to me .

Think the Cryotech team need to learn how to add some gameplay to there games rather than shiny new engines every release

Yeah, that business model never worked out well for id software.

Since when? Fair enough they 'invented' the FPS (and there's some ifs and buts in that argument too). But they hardly pushed the gameplay. It took others like Raven Software, Valve, Splash Damage, etc to actually produce a decent game with an id engine.

If you want a developer who bolts on a decent game to their FPS tech demos the only people I can think of is Epic Games and the various iterations of their Unreal engine.

Well since Doom, Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3. All of which packaged gameplay aspects such as modem play, lan play, and eventually tcp play into the mainstream. More people still play Q3 than all the crysis games put together. Pushed the gameplay? They INVENTED the gameplay?!

Not sarcasm mate, I genuinely didn't know HL1 was on the quake engine.

for geek points I think it was the quake1 engine with bits imported from quake2 which was in the offing at the time....

However, ID invented the modern FPS and the concept of LAN/play over LAN. revolution.
but for gameplay evolution since then...they fairly much seem to stick to this hymn sheet.

Having said that, with QuakeLive...revolution again, FPS 'net gameplay in a browser.
it'll likely be other companies that run with the idea though

Well its been over a year now so heres some nem updated footage of the engine and in game .

http://playstationfeed.com/crysis-2-...ology-trailer/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1MoWtBWLEM

All 3 platforms look good but pc will be better ,But what i want to know is what type of rig will i need to run it ,Heard in a movie trailer that Pc Ps3 will be nearly identicicle .

So if i need to upgrade my rig to something bloody stupid just to get this game run smoothly then i may just get it on 360 instead of paying shit loads of cash just to be able to play this game .

Pretty seriously doubt it'll be identical. PC hardware has a 2-3 year leap on ps3/360 now.

I was under the impression by that the time Valve had finished with Half-Life there was very little of the Q1 code left but hey, it had to start somewhere.

I believe that the goal is that they will be pretty damned close to identical. I read somewhere earlier (and cant now find) that theyve taken some of the texture detail off (which consoles dont do so well) and put extra emphasis on the lighting effects (which consoles do very well)
