I'm not a fan of reality tv... but ...

Source : http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1614649.html

Quote:
Reality show sets up space cadets

Reality show chiefs are planning the biggest hoax in TV history - by fooling nine Brits they've been blasted into space.

Channel 4 is spending £5million on new show Space Cadets where the joke is on the contestants who will think they've been jetted to a Russian space agency for training.

But they will be flown around Britain and the North Sea for four hours before landing at a disused UK airbase done up as a space centre.

They will then be sent into 'space' for five days.

Their shuttle is really a prop from hit movie Space Cowboys, and its launch will be faked with sound effects and vibrations.

Later a giant screen outside the shuttle will beam pictures of space. There will be no need to simulate zero gravity as contestants will be told they are not far enough above Earth.

The show, fronted by Sun film critic Johnny Vaughan, was dreamt up by Big Brother producers Endemol 18 months ago.

Contestants were chosen after being quizzed by psychologists to find out if they were easily fooled.

They are now in hiding abroad before the ten-day series starts on December 7.
Exploiting stupidity?
This does sound amusing

I heard about this on the radio, should be a good laugh especially if they chuck in the good old "OH NOES, the engines have failed and your all about to plummit to your deaths!" scenario

Heh - read about that in the times today - I would be worried if they managed to believe it all after a certain point, if at all, I mean, I don't see how they could make it seem 100% 'real' and that people would believe they had been given a 'too good to be true' opportunity. Unless of course they are extremely naive.

I wonder if any of the contestants has done the same to the psychologists (i.e. fooled them)...

why would they, im sure they were compleatly unaware of what the psychologist was really looking for, you've already got to be rather neive to apply for a contest like that, but with the amount of people wanting to be reality tv rejects blaming their coke habbit on the tele these days i would imagine theyd have a rather long line of casting! But really it can't be that heard, i mean i convinced me mates ive got a real life llama in my garden! GEFORCE is itchin' to see it!

i will only bother watching this if at some point they show the contestants a video through the window of the earth being decimated by nukes. the rest of the series will be them dealing with being the last humans alive.
If this is a little too cruel they should at least have the computer go H.A.L on them.

So, are they going to be allegedly flying this thing? Or is there going to be a number of actornauts posing as the crew, who succumb to some lurgy and flee in an escape pod leaving the tards onboard?

There is an actor on board to play them a bit more. A real astronaut tested the fake launch and said it was just as real as the real one only louder

With the notable exception of the unfakeable feeling of inertia and g-force - to name but two forum members.

Regardless, the one thing missing from ALL simulators except for the centrifugal g-force simulators...is inertia and g-force - you cannot fake gravity (unless you are in zero-g and spinning on an axis of course which is merely centrifugal anyway)...blah blah blah...gotta be a fuckin tard to not realise that you aren't actually going anywhere.

Regardless of inertia/g-force issues (see how I managed to get three forum members in there?), I'm looking forward to watching this. It's like a budget Truman show.

Oh, and on the subject of reality shows:
Makosi wins battle to stay in UK

Particularly like that choice of picture.

Faking geforce/gravity is probably less of an issue than trying to fake zero-G. The whole idea falls down at that point.
