Does anyone have any ideas (or links) explaining what Trumps economic practices are likely to do to the USA in the long term? Very broad question I know.

No because Trump doesn't have a strategy and no-one, including Trump, has any clue what happens next.

Right, and forecasting much further out than 18 months out is very hard. That said, higher deficit, higher debt, they'll pay for it in the end.

@leahmcelrath: In short:

Trump’s Executive Order is a set up.

It’s designed to make him appear beneficent (to change HIS policy he could literally change with a phone call) while simultaneously picking a fight with the judicial branch.

He is setting up a win-win for himself.

1/2

@leahmcelrath: Trump’s EO will be challenged in court because it violates case law.

Either:

1. A judge will rule it illegal. Trump will then blame the judge for continuing child separations.
or
2. Courts will change existing law. Trump will detain families/children WITHOUT time limits.

2/2

@NickRiccardi: NYT reports that, rather than separating children from parents, the Trump administration will hold children indefinitely with their parents, violating a court settlement and inevitably triggering a legal challenge https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/20/u...ive-order.html

A complete shock that putting scarcely employable low wage muppets in charge of warehouses full of traumatised children results in horrific abuse. I'm sure Neilsen is all over the issue.

Ummmmm, pretty sure that's a fake website tbh (that page in particular looks a bit dodgy). Hmmm mebbe not, there was some dodgy looking ad showing up on it and no formatting, might just be an issue with me accessing it from work.

Yeah associated press has been center right and real for about two decades.

You get a receipt from a dry cleaners when you drop your shirts off but that's too much admin for Trump and the gang. Amazing.
