Help Required - Mod Installs

Looking for some orientation on mod installs and management on 1.6.2. I see there's various modmanagers and installers out there but I'm two years out of touch and no idea which ones are any cop.

I'm trying to leave my nephews minecraft install in a position where he (as a ten year old) can use and add new mods. Feasable? Is there a way of building a minecraft install and sending it? I don't get to see him in person much but do have remote access to his PC so could manage an instance on my pc and lob it over. Could anyone send me their setup and would it work?

He's after toomanyitems for starters but I'm happy to take recommendations. Sexual favours offered for assistance.

The idiot proof thing to give him is the Feed the Beast launcher. This will let him download 'premade' modded minecraft installations and do all the wizardry required.

Yeah if that's not flexible enough for your nephew I would suggest you look at Magic Launcher. It will let you pick and choose what mods you want, so you're not constrained by a modpack authors 'vision' like you are with FTB. OTOH it does go a bit bonkers on occasion and require some manual intervention to fix (ID conflicts mostly).
