That would really be a shame indeed, I thought the first season was excellent.

An adaptation of The Boys with Karl Urban as Billy Butcher? I'll buy that for a dollar.

Watched the first season of Cobra Kai.

I liked it, reminded me of my youth when the KK films ruled schools n playgrounds.

Very conflicted about this . Buffy was and still is an all time favourite. Would I like more , yep , do I want new... I don't know . Granted the generation who watched it then aren't really the target audience now , but I'm not sure what a new version brings to the table . You could quite happily have used the existing mythology and have a new slayer.

It did for the most part. It's not too far away in terms of time, the original BSG was 1978 and the remake 2004, only a few years shy of the Buffy time gap. But the original BSG whilst remembered fondly and watched as a kid - was absolute shit. It really was. Cashing in on the Star Wars effect , ropy acting, effects and story lines.

The remake to begin with was an excellent remake, it took all the familiar elements and improved upon them , gave it a vastly different feel and generally out shone the original.

Although I think the remake seriously loses it's way after series 3 and the final two years are simply not a patch on the first 2 and in many ways becomes as much a pile of horse shit as the original ever was.

For me , Buffy doesn't need that re-imagining. There was 7 years of excellent and well executed TV. There was 5 years of Angel , which again for me excellent and cancelled in it's prime. But between the two , that was 12 years of good stuff with the potential between the two for more. Some of which has been addressed and explored in the comics.

Possibly , probably yes? Because Firefly only had a brief run , was genuinely entertaining and the cast were pretty great. Serenity did a great job however of giving that crew another adventure and works really well on it's own. Again with both things you could continue / carry on without the need for a reboot whether they use the original cast as well. Ala Star Trek > TNG > DS9 > Voyager , same universe, same themes, different concepts and sensibilities which are all pretty complimentary or each other.

Yeah I watched it in a few days. Enjoyed it . Only major gripes would be not enough character development of Ryan , it's a little too quickly into running around mode . Krasinki needs a bit more to do , thought he had great presence in Quiet Place but lacks a little oomph here . But still enjoyable

It wasn't perfect, but if Ryan is supposed to be a bookishy nerd that happens to be a Marine killing machine it worked. It was the McGuffins that were a bit more jarring, such as the magic terrorist going from an accountant to radicalised religious figure. Why exactly his wife suddenly didn't like him (actually he seemed like a pretty decent husband), the point of the UAV pilot subplot that went nowhere...
